A CONSUMER GUIDE TO SKI & SNOWBOARD WAX
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A WAX IS WORTH BUYING?
IS IT FAST OR SLOW?
♦ Do your skis or snowboard slow down after just a few runs or even before lunch? ♦ Does it have a Top-Out speed? ♦ Some waxes feel slick underfoot, but max out at a slower speed.
♦ Some waxes feel surefooted and slow at first, but seem to have an unlimited top-out speed offering a much higher maximum speed.

IS IT DURABLE?
♦ What about on really cold days when snowflakes are hard, sharp and crystalline, or the run is pure ice? ♦ Do you need a durability agent for that week long destination trip where there is no way to hot wax again where you are going? ♦ What is left when the wax (a speed agent carrier) is gone? Bare slow bases? Or a fast speed agent and you're still hitting 'hair on fire' speeds?

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: Even a 1 MPH difference measured here on a 🟢 beginner run, can mean several MPH difference between products when measured on 🟦 intermediate or ◇ Black Diamond (expert) runs and higher. This is due to newtonian mechanics which tells us that objects will accelerate faster on steeper slopes
STRONG WARNING:
Using Teton Glass Elite or Black Ice Series of Racing Waxes, Teton Powda Wax expects a likely 50% to 100% increase in speed over these 🟢 Beginner Run results, as a racer moves up to Black and Double Black Diamond Runs and Race Courses. Your rate of acceleration will increase proportionally with the increase in steepness. In other words, you are going to accelerate super fast on steeper slopes and achieve higher maximum speeds. TETON POWDA WAX RACING WAXES AMPLIFY THESE LAWS OF PHYSICS BY REDUCING FRICTION COEFFICIENTS THROUGHOUT THE SPEED RANGE RESULTING IN DRAMATIC ACCELERATION RATES OVER COMPETITORS.
Here is a Rule of Thumb:
As we progress from 🟢 Beginner Runs to 🟦 Intermediate to ◇ Black Diamond, (increase in slope), or as the slope
(% grade) doubles, the amount of distance it takes to reach 55 MPH, appears to be cut in half. We hit 55 MPH using Blazzin' Sadles in 600 yards on a 18% grade. Upon trying this test on a Blue Square, approx. 30% grade, we hit similar speeds in just 300 yards! This means it is possible that YOU may reach 55 MPH in 100-200 yards or less on Black Diamond runs according to Newtonian Mechanics and our initial test data.
These are not guaranteed figures, but a verbal communication of the level of performance of Teton Powda Wax Racing products.

HOW MUCH does speed cost?
THESE ARE STANDARDIZED COSTS ACROSS VENDORS FOR THE SAME amount of wax. SPEED DATA came FROM TPW CINNABAR SPEED TESTING
DEMAND PERFORMANCE FOR YOUR MONEY ♦ DECIDE FOR YOURSELF WHAT'S WORTH THE MONEY
- Traditionally the cost of ski wax has skyrocketed as speeds and popularity increased. This chart shows you that relationship.
- Sometimes Wax Companies sell you so little of an item (1 oz. of White Gold) that when you standardize across vendors, you begin to see its real cost.
- Still, many Ski Wax Companies are just selling you soft, cheap, slow candle "Race" wax with some coloring and nothing more. Often found online and in most ski shops from brands with European sounding names. This was high tech for ski wax in the 1920s - 1950s.
- Others do the same, but add water-soluble shampoo ingredients (SDS) that wash away quickly. It was high tech for ski wax in the 1970s - 1980s.
- These waxes are fine for First-Time riders or Beginner riders who average 10 to 25 MPH on most runs.
- However, we feel it's irresponsible marketing to mislead consumers by labeling slow waxes with words like "Racing"
- If you're like us, and/or you've shelled out the money to travel and compete, you aren't there to "RACE" to come in last place.
- You need speed at an affordable price.
- You need race training wax that doesn't break the bank.
with today's next generation nanotechnology based ski waxes, you don't need a pound of wax to deliver lots of incredibly fast speed agent to your bases. the wax is a carrier vehicle, not the speed agent and the depth of ski and snowboard bases from the edges are still paper thin.
stop polluting your ski room floor & the mountain with wasted wax
expensive wax should provide speed & competitive advantages... today! 🔥not 25 - 75 years ago🔥
- Yesterday's speed agents were water soluable shampoo ingredients (SDS) and were gone as soon as the candle wax rubbed off.
- Today's nanotechnology provides highly concentrated speed agents when compared molecule for molecule, are said to be stronger than steel.
- Teton Powda Wax speed agents can't be washed away. They don't dissolve in water.
- Many of our speed agents form a semi-permanent bond and some form a permanent bond that requires a base grind to remove.
- Our speed agents use a variety of cutting edge nanotechnologies that use cross bonding technology and lattices.
- Some are said to have 'self-repair, self-healing' properties.
- For competing Racers using Black Ice and Teton Glass Elite Waxes, you should see good consistency in times between runs.
- Let your ski speed and 'feel' alert you to when you need to wax again.
- If I'm racing, I'm leaving nothing to chance and I'm waxing a night or two before anyway for maximum possible speed.
- Check out the Waxing Procedures section for more details on how to prep TPW wax to achieve maximum speeds.

Why buy teton powda waxes?
Unprecedented performance
Black Ice and Teton Glass Elite Racing Series of Waxes repel dirt, oil, pollen, grime and static charge that robs you of speed.
Nanotechnology
All Teton Powda Waxes are extremely hydrophobic. Our speed agents use a variety of cutting edge nanotechnologies that use cross bonding technology, lattices, and some are said to have 'self-repair, self-healing' properties.
excellent value
All Teton Powda Waxes are highly concentrated and extremely fast! Teton Powda Wax speed agents can't be washed away. They don't dissolve in water.
innovation
Don't be alarmed if you can't see wax on your bases at the end of the day, the speed agents will still be there, providing a fast hydrophobic glide.
UP FOR SETTING A WORLD RECORD?
Got custom wax needs?
We have no idea if we can actually help you pull this off. Our waxes are very fast. However, we have no test data to know if they compete at that level.
But, we're willing to try.
Max slope = 98%, Avg = 52.5%
Are you a Speed Skier? Do you need a custom racing additive / hardener for super high speeds 120-160+ MPH where the snow friction actually melts off standard paraffin wax and a crash means 3rd degree friction burns?
