Our Mission
Is to bring to you a 21st-century, next-generation line of ultra high performance ski & snowboard race waxes based on modern, state of the art nanotechnology and the latest materials science. We go far beyond tree sap, whale oil, paraffin hardness, water soluable shampoo ingredients, or mineral additives. We just summarized over 360 years of ski wax technology in one sentence. Imagine that. And we want to express our gratitude to everyone in the industry for their technological breakthroughs along the way that have brought so much happiness and pure enjoyment of snow sports to all of us. From Martin Matsbo, to Terry Hertel, to Leif Torgersen, to Matt Cummins, Bryan Rushforth and that dude they call "Jay," we have nothing but respect for your contributions to improving our glide. The Streif Downhill event (shown above) is arguably a Double Black Diamond (Expert) race course w/ Avg. incline of 27% w/ Max. incline of 85% on fast, hard, icy conditions. Fritz Stroble set the course record for the fastest overall time (highest average speed) in 1997. Its North American equivalent would be the Grizzly downhill event featured in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics held at SnowBasin, Utah, w/ Avg. incline of 30.87%, where Fritz Stroble averaged 64.538 mph (103.864 km/h) over 3,127 yards to win the Gold Medal.
Amazingly, TPW has conducted initial product testing using live, on snow, race simulations on a section of a Beginner level run (Green Circle) w/ Avg. incline of just 14%, w/ Max. incline of 44% known as the Cinnabar run, at Big Sky Resort, Montana in softer, slower conditions. Using numerous pairs of 10-20 year old "legacy" garage sale rock skies, properly prepped, TPW tested and discovered many formulas where we could repeatedly go from a dead stand still with no push off and reach 58 mph (93.342 km/h) in just 600 yards in mild beginner terrain using our Teton Glass Series race waxes (TGS).

Based on our empirical test data TPW strongly believes that today's elite ski racers may be able to achieve speeds in excess of 100 mph (161 km/h or more) tucking down the Streif and/or Grizzly downhill courses. with proper product application and course conditions, That's both a realistic performance metric and a strong warning to anyone considering racing on our Teton Glass Series of Waxes.

If you see a product comparison showing standardized testing data, it's about helping everyone see achievable and potential speeds to make informed decisions about a product's suitability for their desired event or application across an endless offering of wax products and price points. I think we'd all agree the fastest race wax for a downhill event is not a good choice for a beginner skier, who needs to feel sure-footed and secure on their ride, capable of safely stopping and controlling their speed. Too much speed too early can scare a person away from the sport. And at the expert level, the highest levels, not enough speed leads to children and families, beer bellies and football, grey hair, and work weeks = boredom. This site is about progressing the sport we all LOVE and bringing enjoyment to our friends and families. It's OUR contribution to the snow sports industry, discoveries that would be a shame to keep to ourselves and not share with all of you. In short, we really are here for YOU!!
